Kudos to our cheer team, Coach Haskin, Assistant Coach Battle, and Volunteer Coach Taylor. As Coach Haskin stated, "Today our season came to a close. Today I watched this team score the highest they’ve ever scored. I watched them work completely as a team. I read comments from judges “holy moly Harrison” “yes that’s Harrison”. I watched these girls leave their heart and soul on the mat. We did not end today the way we wanted. But we ended today with the sense of accomplishment. We have continued to improve and work together." Let’s go blue 💙💛

Good morning, We have just completed one of our required lockdown drills on all campuses. We appreciate the participation of law enforcement from across the region in this important work, especially in scheduling and coordinating their schedules. Kudos to Deputy Chinavare for his organization of the same. Please take time this evening to touch base with your child around the drill. Especially with younger children, the drills may cause stress or anxiety. If there are questions we can help you with, please reach out to your building principal or myself. Restorative practices have been part of alternative discipline in schools for at least the last 8-9 years, when Governor Snyder signed PA 361 in 2016. While many of our staff have been trained over time in various places, we committed in our Strategic Plan to a day of training for all staff this school year. Last Friday, we were able to bring together playground aides, interventists, teachers, counselors, paraprofessionals, social workers, bus drivers, office staff, behavior specialists, and administrators across four sites. Trainers included Sandy Hargraves, Nick Winters, Stacey VanAntwerp, and Judy Walton, all who have been trained as trainers. Co-trainers included Andrea Andera, Sarah Morris, Jennifer Thrush, Amanda Dolan, and Melody Lake. Topics included community building, fair practices, affective statements, and use of restorative circles.

During the afternoon today, our teachers met in either grade level or content area teams. This block of time together is crucial for professional growth and to continue to enhance high-quality teaching and learning for all. We appreciate your support, as we know half days may require additional childcare for many families.
