We continue to focus on designing learning environments to encourage math play and thinking. It is vitally important to encourage choice, creativity, and social engagement so that our kids see themselves as math knowers, doers, and contributors.

This week and always, we appreciate our two school counselors! Ms. Morris supports 6-8 graders at the middle school and Hive campuses, and Ms. Houghton supports 9-12 graders at the high school and Hive campuses.
School counselors are highly educated, professionally certified individuals who help students succeed in school and plan their career. An integral part of the total education system, school counselors help students form healthy goals, mindsets, and behaviors. With the aid of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, to practice perseverance, to develop time management and study skills, and to learn self-motivation and self-direction habits.

Due to icy conditions, Harrison Community Schools will be closed Friday, January 26th.
Hornet Nation,
Thanks so much for your understanding around our cancellation today. Our early morning test drives resulted in a couple of sideways events that included tapping a deer and a snowbank ending. With that in mind, the safety of our students waiting at bus stops and riding buses figured centrally in the decision. Even a two-hour delay would not have significantly helped.
At this point, with rising temperatures and salting done by the Road Commission (a big thank you!), we are comfortable with athletic events and/or practices going forward later today.
Much appreciation,
Judy Walton, Superintendent

Bravo to Hunter and Jacob at the MSBOA District 9 All Star Weekend! #HornetPride

Out of an abundance of caution regarding bus safety on the roads later, SPARKS is canceled for tonight, January 23. Afterschool practices are still in place as of now, and we will continue to monitor the weather and the roads.
This month and always, we appreciate our School Board Members: Zachary Driver, Kendra Durga, Therese Haly, James Neff, Chelsea Roland, Betsy Ulicki, and Carrie Whitaker. Individually and together, they play a crucial role in shaping the future of our students, schools, district, and community. #HornetPride

Weather forecast is for a balmy 36 degrees! Parking will be available in the staff lot, behind the school.

Our 4th and 5th graders culminated the Larson food drive by attending the Hoops for Hunger game at CMU. Thanks to all who contributed food items, and to our Larson staff for coordinating such an awesome community service project! #HornetPride

Our windchill is competitive with KC right now -- stay warm and safe if you have to go outside. We will be monitoring any additional snow and status of roads today and tonight.

Due to the weekend storm, Harrison Community Schools will be closed, Monday, January 15th. Please stay warm and safe Hornets.
Out of an abundance of caution, our administrative and school-based offices will be closed this afternoon so that employees may safely travel home. All after school and evening activities are canceled.
Good morning, Hornet Nation!
As we look at the weather for today, especially when the first snow is expected to begin and when heavier snow is to follow, we will proceed with our scheduled 1/2 day of school. Thank you all for your patience,
